Challenge

When STRMS launched, it faced significant challenges with its integration platform. As a company focused on operational automations for accounting, finance, and service-based businesses, it needed a solution that could efficiently handle customer-facing integrations with everything that entailed.

"One of the main reasons we started looking at Prismatic was the user credentialing – the ability for us as a firm to manage automations for other customers was key," explains Korey Cournoyer, Co-founder and CEO of STRMS. "I didn't want to hold onto and retain the security aspect of other people's passwords and authentication."

The development team was spending roughly half its time on maintenance rather than new development, leading to frustration and stagnation.

STRMS previous solution, a traditional integration platform, presented limitations in both features and functionality that prevented the company from scaling effectively. Korey and his team needed a solution that could grow with them while reducing security risks and maintenance overhead.

Solution

After researching alternatives and reading G2 reviews, Korey discovered Prismatic. "I'm a big believer in partnerships, and having that partner in Prismatic was the key. What Prismatic does for us is it not only enables the development, but it enables the scalability of the development."

Before making the switch, Korey involved his development team in the decision-making process. "Since they were the people that were going to be in this product day in, day out, I wanted their buy-in, I wanted them to feel comfortable and supported."

The platform's robust documentation, continuous feature enhancements, and dedicated support team were crucial factors in the team's decision. "Having that direct resource for us allowed me the comfort and my team the comfort of knowing that if something came up, we could actually talk to someone that we knew, that we trusted, that could help support us through that," said Korey.

Results

The impact of implementing Prismatic has been transformative for STRMS. Average development time per customer dropped from 53 hours to 41 hours – a 20% reduction. More dramatically, the team shifted from spending half its time on maintenance to focusing 85-90% of its efforts on new development.

By using Prismatic, we've been able to see a roughly 50% increase in new customer acquisition simply by that factor of reducing time on our maintenance. It's allowed us to become more scalable while also keeping our costs down for our customers because the maintenance factor is so much lower.

The win rate jumped from 30% to 45-50%, largely due to an ability to offer more competitive pricing. "It's allowed this whole new opportunity of actually supporting businesses that maybe weren't able to do these automations in the first place."

The marketplace functionality proved particularly valuable. Korey noted that "The ability for us to create templates to support more and more customers and have that more of a self-service style module has allowed us to not only tap into more markets and tap into more customers, but has also exponentially reduced the development and maintenance time."

The partnership with Prismatic has fundamentally changed how STRMS approaches its business model. "I would hands down recommend Prismatic because Prismatic I view as the core partner to my business. It is the infrastructure behind the scenes. It is the tool that we are building our business on," said Korey.
