Challenge
Cofactr's workflow automation software for complex manufacturers was hitting a critical scaling point. With each new customer requiring multiple integrations with systems from engineering tools to financial software, Matthew Haber, the Co-founder and CEO of Cofactr, needed an integration platform to scale with the company's strategy.
Before Prismatic, every integration required involvement from a member of our engineering team. Typically, it would take weeks to months to build each one, not necessarily working full-time across their work stream. Additionally, once they were live, ongoing troubleshooting and debugging fixes also had to be performed by the engineering team.
The impact on Cofactr's business was noticeable. With 25% of engineering resources tied up in integration work, Cofactr couldn't efficiently respond to customer demands or scale its product offerings.
Solution
Matthew knew he needed a more scalable platform and partner to handle what would eventually become hundreds of integrations across Cofactr's customer portfolio.
During its evaluation, Cofactr established strict requirements for its integration platform. As a company serving aerospace and defense customers, Cofactr needed a solution with robust GovCloud support that met stringent data security requirements. The company also required extensive coverage of enterprise-grade systems and legacy tools common to manufacturing and finance.
We were looking for a solution that was gonna allow our in-house teams to more effectively and efficiently deploy these kinds of integrations for our customer base. And that's where we found Prismatic.
To validate vendors, Cofactr pulled together requirements from a previously-built integration and challenged them to demonstrate their solutions. This hands-on evaluation revealed crucial differences in each platform's abilities to handle complex, Cofactr-specific integration needs.
With Prismatic, we saw through the sales cycle that their team was very invested in product development, that the application engineers were super responsive and gave us a lot of confidence. They were able to be really agile about adding new capabilities to the product.
The decision to choose Prismatic was reinforced by strong references from other manufacturers already using the platform, giving Cofactr confidence in both the technology and the long-term company partnership.
Results
The impact on Cofactr's business has been tremendous. It has shifted from dedicating 25% of engineering resources to integrations to having none of its engineering team involved in integration work. It has also unlocked new revenue streams and market opportunities.
More than 50% of our new revenue is coming from customers who use these new [integration-enabled] modules and upsells of existing customers onto these new modules. And that would not have been possible if we were still having to build the underlying integrations manually with engineering resources.
Prismatic has become a key competitive advantage for Cofactr, particularly in accelerating sales cycles and implementation timelines. Instead of customers waiting many months for Cofactr to scope and budget integration work, they now receive fully integrated solutions within weeks.
Today, Cofactr maintains an aggressive integration roadmap, building several new integrations every month. Most importantly, this increased capability has been achieved without expanding engineering, allowing it to scale the business efficiently while focusing on core product development.
For Matthew and his team, these changes have been impactful. "We've now been able to roll out a lot more self-serve integrations or integrations that are accessible to all of our customers, just because it's a lot cheaper and more efficient to build them."
