Challenge
Yoti, a digital identity company based in London, was at a crossroads in 2018-19. Alttaf Hussain, Yoti's Director of Engineering for e-Sign and SaaS integrations knew the importance of delivering integrations to his customers. "We realized quite quickly once launching our products that we needed a way to integrate. We needed to be where our customers were."
Yoti's customers were using a wide variety of SaaS applications like CRMs, ERPs, data storage, and more. Hussain's team started building bespoke integrations to meet customers' needs, but realized this approach was not sustainable.
We built quite a few individually, one at a time, integrating into various SaaS products and we realized that there has to be a more sophisticated way of doing this. Building integrations one at a time is not going to work in the fast moving, fast-paced tech industry.
Unlike many companies, Yoti had a dedicated integrations team. However, the existing integration process did not use the team efficiently.
[Building] integrations was taking 70% of that team's time and that meant they couldn't help customers with their integration issues. They were building POCs and building integrations rather than helping customers integrate.
Hussain knew he had to change the way his team operated, but it wasn't until he found Prismatic that everything clicked.
Solution
After an extensive search to find a true B2B SaaS integration partner, Yoti discovered Prismatic. Hussain describes the platform as "a framework to supercharge your integrations," noting its ease of use and overall efficiency. "If you had a developer background, you could drag and drop and build an integration within a few hours from scratch."
But Prismatic's value extended beyond that immediate benefit. The focus on long-term maintenance was a big selling point.
[Prismatic] clearly understood the maintenance overhead of integrations, something that nobody talks about…what happens to the integrations one year along when the APIs change? When the products get deprecated, and your customers are still using them, what happens there?
Prismatic has completely revolutionized the way Yoti plans, delivers, and manages its integrations. This comprehensive approach has allowed the team to rapidly expand its offerings to meet diverse customer needs.
Results
The impact of Prismatic on Yoti's business has been transformative. Hussain states, "Now if someone says we need an integration into X, Y, Z system, I'm like, yes, bring it on."
With Prismatic, Hussain's team has built over 100 integrations in one year, a dramatic reduction in dev time. "Integration projects prior to Prismatic would take on average about two months. And now it takes, on average, under two weeks."
Yoti is also competing in and winning more large and complex deals that were previously out of reach.
One deal was able to pay for the whole platform and team for a year. This one deal would not have been possible without Prismatic.
On top of its success in expanding its market reach, Yoti has drastically improved its maintenance efficiency. In a recent maintenance sprint, the team touched nearly 100 integrations within two weeks, a task that would previously have taken months.
We probably save 95% of [engineering] time, we've deployed far more integrations than we would have without Prismatic.
By leveraging Prismatic, Yoti replaced a previously broken integration strategy, and better positioned itself to serve customers and capture new opportunities. The platform has become an integral part of Yoti's strategy and a crucial tool for the team. As Hussain explains, "Everyone gets it; everyone understands that we can integrate wherever we need to, and that's quite a powerful thing."
