The challenge: integrations as core product, not side feature
Liine is a data product. The Raleigh, North Carolina, company uses AI to analyze phone calls and web forms for dental, medical aesthetic, and specialty healthcare practices, answering the one question its customers care about: "Are our marketing efforts creating new patient revenue?"
But data sitting in a dashboard only solves half the problem. The other half is getting that data back into the ad platforms and analytics tools where it can drive auto-optimization and better marketing decisions.
"When I say people buy Liine for our integrations, they buy Liine, of course, for our data and our product, but really it's about what our proprietary data means for other platforms," says Eric Blaser, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer at Liine. "If you cannot feed the AI that is optimizing ads with data related to the end goal of driving new patients, then it's gonna be bad. That's where the integrations come in."
Across its customer base, Liine's integrations cover roughly $150 million in annual Google Ads spend. "That is a lot of money for these practices," Eric says. "If the conversion data that is driving what your ads do is cut off at any point, and Google is starved of the information, it can be a very painful experience that costs a lot of money."
The breaking point: manual setup at scale
Before Prismatic, Liine built integrations in-house and pushed any manual setup work to its customers. That worked on a small scale. Then healthcare practices kept consolidating, and the math turned ugly fast.
Each Google Ads account required 16 separate conversion actions to capture the full picture of new patient activity. A single misconfiguration, undetectable in the moment, would corrupt data. In addition, some Google Ads settings cannot be edited once created. Fixing them meant deleting and rebuilding from scratch.
Now multiply that across a large practice group. "We support a lot of large practice groups. They may have a hundred practices underneath their brand. They could be a marketing agency that serves 500 locations," Eric says. "Multiply one error times 16 conversion actions times 150 practices, and then having to unravel and go back through and manually make edits."
The downstream cost was conversion data that Liine's customers could not recover. Backfill windows are tight: 90 days on Google Ads, 7 days on Meta, and 48 hours on Google Analytics. By Eric's estimate, half of Liine's customers ran into the problem at some point, and one in five lived with it long enough for some data to be permanently lost.
"The integrations are such a critical part of our product that we didn't want to take any chances on human error, even if it wasn't our fault," Eric says.
Why Prismatic: built for embedded, not retrofitted
When Liine evaluated Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) options, the team looked beyond marketing claims and into how each platform was architected.
"There are a lot of iPaaS platforms that kind of claim to be a marketplace you serve up to end users. It's kind of a checks-the-box feature, but really they're rooted in being an internal platform for integrations and automation," Eric says. "It's a small distinction on paper, but Prismatic is just designed for the use case we needed: embedded integrations that are self-service and easy to use."
Pricing was the second pivotal difference. Most competitors quoted Liine on event volume, which would have been punitive given the activity Liine routes. "We could be sending tens of thousands of events a week for particular practice groups," Eric says. "Tying the cost to what we really needed, which were live integrations, made a huge difference. There's definitely a correlation between our growth as a company and our relationship with Prismatic financially, and it feels good when things are aligned. Both companies are incentivized in the proper way."
Compliance closed the deal. Liine handles sensitive PHI and PII, which means every option had to satisfy the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). "HIPAA compliance is highest on our list. We deal with patient data. We integrate with EHR systems. There's zero room for error there. Prismatic checks that box very strongly. Security is definitely part of their ethos."
The implementation: from prototypes to mission-critical
Liine started in Prismatic's low-code builder to ship early integrations fast, then migrated the highest-volume work to code-native for full TypeScript control. "Engineers always prefer code-native," Eric says. "The low-code is really great for getting MVPs out the door. Then, as you iterate, going into a more code-native setup makes sense because you're finding the nuances and edge cases to build off of."
The customer-facing impact was immediate. Setting up Google Ads conversion actions used to be a 20-minute-per-practice slog, multiplied across every location in a group. After Liine moved the setup logic into Prismatic, that work dropped to 30 seconds per practice. For a marketing agency standing up 75 locations, the same job that used to take 25 hours of careful clicking now takes under 40 minutes.
Prismatic's flexibility carried through to the edge cases. "There's a lot of flexibility in the configuration that we've had to do, things that aren't even listed in some of our integrations' API docs," Eric says. "We're able to configure Prismatic in a way that really fits our needs in unique ways, and the Prismatic team has been very helpful brainstorming those as well."
That collaboration runs both ways. When Liine flagged behavior in code-native data source resets that was costing them rework, Prismatic shipped a platform-level fix that preserved customer-entered values across reconfigurations. The change was live in weeks, not quarters.
The results: 100% customer adoption and an expanding footprint
Prismatic is now embedded across Liine's product, roadmap, and go-to-market motion.
"I don't think we have a single customer that is not on a Prismatic integration," Eric says. "It's embedded internally and externally."
The integration footprint today includes Google Ads (with 260 active instances for a single 130-practice-customer alone), Google Analytics 4 (GA4) live with roughly a dozen customers, Meta Ads, Mixpanel, Local IQ, and more. Bing Ads was just released, with Reddit and additional ad platforms next on the roadmap.
The compounding effect on Liine's product cadence has been just as important. "It's obviously increased the speed and scale, but it's also how easy is it to deploy," Eric says. "Our beta cycles go quicker because we can get more customers on faster. We can have faster release cycles on integrations because we can iterate quickly. It touches a lot of levels of the dev lifecycle and the customer lifecycle."
Cheaper than hiring a dedicated integration engineer
Liine's build-versus-buy analysis kept coming back to the same conclusion: a dedicated integration team would be feast or famine.
"Prismatic is responsible for essentially the rails for making sure things are working properly on the infrastructure side, making sure that integrations are updated as versions are deprecated," Eric says. "That's a big responsibility off of our shoulders. For an integrations team internally, it's feast or famine. It's too volatile for us to dedicate an entire side of our organization for."
That economic clarity is part of why Liine signed a three-year enterprise agreement with Prismatic in late 2025, including a BAA for HIPAA-covered workloads.
Self-service for a fragmented healthcare market
Liine is now rolling out Prismatic's embedded workflow builder, allowing customers to create connections to systems that Liine does not directly support. In a market that is consolidating fast but still running on a patchwork of legacy tools, this matters.
"It's not uncommon where you have five locations that use five different systems for various things," Eric says. "Being able to use Liine, and in this case, Prismatic, to make sure everything is apples-to-apples even though there's all these systems involved, that's where the embedded workflow builder comes in handy."
EWB will also enhance how Liine sells. "You think of integrations as kind of this post-go-live type thing: how do you get data from point A to point B," Eric says. "But the embedded workflow builder allows our sales team to confidently showcase that our platform can integrate in almost any product the customer needs it to be in."
Looking forward: integrations as Liine's distribution layer
For Liine, integrations are not part of the feature roadmap. They are the distribution layer for the company's core asset.
"The data is great within Liine, but the question always becomes the application of the data," Eric says. "People want to automate with good data. So if you want to automate with good data, you have to have the automation tools, but then the data that feeds it is a critical component. Integrations long-term are a huge focus."
Asked whether he would recommend Prismatic to other SaaS companies, Eric does not hesitate. "I would absolutely recommend Prismatic to other SaaS companies. The product is excellent. I'm impressed with how quickly new features come out and the attention to detail of the feedback we give. We don't feel like we're fighting an uphill battle. The aligned incentives have been really helpful, because the success of our integrations equals the success of them as a company."
Key takeaways
- Integrations are the product. Liine's value depends on data flowing back into the ad platforms and systems where customers act on it. Prismatic gave them the infrastructure to scale without scaling integration headcount.
- Manual setup at scale was unsustainable. 16 conversion actions per Google Ads account, multiplied across hundreds of practices, created a recurring conversion loss issue. Prismatic-driven automation took customer setup from 20 minutes per practice to 30 seconds.
- Built for embedded, not retrofitted. Prismatic won Liine's evaluation on three things: embedded-first architecture, pricing aligned to live integrations, and HIPAA-grade security.
- Cheaper than a dedicated integration engineer. Liine signed a three-year enterprise agreement on the strength of Prismatic's full infrastructure coverage and predictable cost.
- Self-service is the next chapter. With embedded workflow builder rolling out, Liine is moving from "we build the integrations" to "your team builds the integrations you need," with HIPAA compliance maintained throughout.
